Arctic Monkeys

who: arctic monkeys
what: a phenomenal, well-spent $30
where: avalon, boston
when: thursday 6/15/06
why: cuz i love their raucous, cheeky, playful, brit-pop, post-punk tunes!
(note: i mercilessly stole all of those adjectives from various sources)

what a great night!

i've been to many a sold out show at the avalon, but never have there been so many people stuffed in before. they must have *really* over-sold this show and EVERYONE and their cute british brother showed up.

many foreigners with great accents.

a few 14-year olds, a few 50-year olds....but mostly 21-30-year olds. EVERYONE was drinking.

the whole show felt more like a huge party than a concert. don't get me wrong, the night was about the music... everyone knew all the words to the songs and was dancing. it was just a different feel than most club shows.

its been said in many places before, but the new bassist nick is super.

but alex turner really stole the show. he was more withdrawn than i expected....less cocky. but he sure delivered an amazing set. it seems my crush has grown into a lustful obsession. (look out julian...someone younger and *available* may be moving in ...)

the set list was great. opening with "riot van"....starts soft and sweet, then slowly grows and explodes into the venue. and ending with "a certain romance"...there's only music so that there's new ring tones....one of my favorite lines ever. the whole progression made great sense.

and boston concluded their u.s. tour.
thanks for a great show lads!
for an okay review of the show, but some notable pics....click here.

Nice Blog. Sold out Concerts are a blast, especially if you really dig the band.
The photo of Bush is evil, and I liked the "clock" joke.

Great work.

Cheers!!!

Thanks for the feedback on my blog.
I came across yours clicking on that little updated blog ticker on the blogger home page.
I really enjoy reading about music, and other people’s musical experiences. The Artic Monkeys have been getting a lot of air play lately. It's always nice to see the newer acts mature and claim a spot in the music world.

Cheers!!!
